Water softener & filtration installation in Vancouver, WA.

Vancouver is home base. Most of the city is on City of Vancouver water from local wells; neighborhoods outside the city limits are on Clark Public Utilities. Both are safe. Both are hard enough to scale up a water heater.

Local water

Water in Vancouver

Every drop of Vancouver city water comes from wells tapping three local aquifers: the Orchards, Troutdale and Sand-and-Gravel systems, pumped from nine water stations around the city. The utility adds a trace of chlorine for disinfection and fluoride for teeth, and it publishes its test results every year.

Hardness is the everyday issue. The 2025 report lists 55 to 130 ppm, roughly 3 to 8 grains per gallon, and which end of that range you're on depends on which water station feeds your street. Cascade Park, Fisher's Landing, Orchards, Hazel Dell, Felida, Minnehaha and the rest of the city each sit on their own mix of wells. That's why we test at your tap instead of quoting from a map.

PFAS is the newer issue. Three of the city's water stations have tested at or above state and federal limits, and the city is building carbon treatment starting in 2026. Until that's done, a reverse osmosis tap is what a Vancouver household can do at home.

Vancouver questions

Frequently asked questions

Do Vancouver homes need a water softener?
Many do. The city's own report puts hardness at 55 to 130 ppm, and the upper half of that range is officially hard: scale on fixtures, water heaters dying early, spots on dishes. Some neighborhoods test on the softer end, and if yours is one of them we'll say so after the free test.
Which parts of Vancouver do you cover?
All of it: downtown, Uptown Village, Cascade Park, Fisher's Landing, Orchards, Minnehaha, Hazel Dell, Felida, Salmon Creek and everything between, plus the unincorporated areas on Clark Public Utilities water.
What should I do about PFAS in Vancouver water?
Don't panic, and don't ignore it. The city is building treatment and it will take a few years. A 7-stage reverse osmosis tap at your kitchen sink addresses PFAS at the point you drink today, and it comes with The Complete System. Our PFAS guide has the details.
How fast can you install in Vancouver?
Usually the same week as your quote. Most installs take about half a day.
